Meet Finalists for the Director of Bias Incident Support Services Position

The Office of Diversity and Inclusion is hiring a new director for our Bias Incident Support Services (BISS) unit and would like to invite you to meet the four finalists for the position.

Bias Incident Support Services was created to address hate-bias incidents on our campus in the wake of the 2017 murder of 1st Lt. Richard W. Collins III and focuses on support and healing for individuals affected by hate and bias. The Director of BISS serves as the primary resource and advisor to campus constituents in responding to hate and bias incidents. This position provides administrative leadership and strategic planning, budget management, and program assessment for Bias Incident Support Services. The Director provides individual and systemic advocacy and support for students, staff, and faculty directly or indirectly impacted by acts of hate and bias using a restorative practices framework. The position also develops and implements strategic approaches, training, and initiatives to reduce hate and bias incidents and increase belonging within the campus community.

We hope you will be able to attend the meetings below as campus input will be an essential piece of the search process. All UMD community members are welcome to attend. Finalists will give a 30-minute presentation, followed by 20 minutes for answering your questions. All meetings will be held via Zoom and we will send an evaluation to all attendees after the event.

Please register individually for each session below. Advance registration and a UMD email are required. This invitation is non-transferable:

  • Friday, Dec. 4, 3-4 p.m. RSVP
