Congratulations to The 1856 Project, UMD's chapter of Universities Studying Slavery, on their latest big news: UMD’s 1856 Project Receives $200,000 Grant from Mellon Foundation for Research Incubator Investigating Legacy of Slavery at the University.

The project and their recently published first annual research update were also just featured in a story on NBC4: Project reveals University of Maryland's ties to slavery, a blueprint for accountability.
