Resources for campus following CA, TX, OH mass shootings
Dear members of our community,
The mass shootings that occurred over the past two weekends in Gilroy, California, El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio are horrifying acts of violence that impact us all. Our hearts go out to the victims, their families, and their communities; it is difficult to find words to adequately express our shock and anger that such things can happen. And as these senseless killings seem to increase, particularly when they are motivated by racism or xenophobia as appears to be the case in El Paso, it may be tempting to think "here we go again." While it is important to note and track these tragedies, we must not let ourselves become desensitized to the emotions they evoke in us as well as the impact they have on the communities in which they occur. We will be witnesses to hate, but we will not let hate win. Please take care of yourselves by using the resources listed below should you need assistance.
