Response to recent mass email
On Thursday, November 26, many UMD community members received an unwanted spam email from an unauthorized sender via UMD email lists. Based on preliminary information from the Department of Information Technology, the sender did not (and does not) have access to or know the email address or identity of the individuals who received the email message.
We understand this email message may be unsettling. DIT is taking action to ensure these lists may not be used without authorization in the future. Please also know that our Bias Incident Support Servicesunit (BISS) is available to support you, along with other support resources on campus. BISS serves UMD community members from all identities to address the harm caused by bias and prejudice, with a focus on care and healing for the affected parties in any incident. Please reach out to BISS or other campus support units as needed.
