Welcome! The Office of Diversity and Inclusion works on diversity, equity and inclusion at the University of Maryland in collaboration with a network of campus partners. As a prospective student, please know there are many resources available to you, whether you want opportunities to get involved and meet new people, resources, support for an incident, or want to start something new. We’ll give you a brief overview of what ODI can offer. If you don’t see what you’re looking for here, please reach out with any questions—we can probably connect you to the resources you need. Report an accessibility barrier and get support.
Learn more and get resources about ADA accessibility around campus, in classes and activities.
Bias Incident Support Services home
This is where you can go to report a hate-bias incident and find support.
Get training and education on preventing and responding to hate and bias for your student group, class, etc.
Attend The Circle (offered each month) for a safe conversation space on a topic related to hate and bias.
Take a Words of Engagement Intergroup Dialogue (WEIDP) course and/or get trained as a facilitator! WEIDP is a for-credit social justice education program that brings together students of diverse social identity groups for facilitated face-to-face conversation that enhance participants’ self- and social awareness.
Book a tailored training on issues related to diversity & inclusion, implicit bias, cultural competency and more.
Find a learning community to address an issue that’s important to you.
Find support and community with other members of UMD’s LGBTQ+ community (and allies).
Attend events each year, like Quelcome (Queer Welcome), Q Camp, Queer Joy, Lavender Graduation, and more.
Join a student group or create your own!
Grow your social justice leadership skills through workshops and other events
Help advocate for inclusive policies and competency across campus
Your home away from home! Nyumburu is UMD’s center for Black social, cultural and intellectual interaction.
Take a course (offerings include blues, jazz, gospel music performance and diversity).
Get involved with a student organization or music group.
Attend community gatherings and celebrations (Black History Month, Black Graduation, the Miss Unity pageant...)
Apply to join the Black Explosion newspaper staff or pitch a freelance article.
Check out art exhibits and performances and show off your own work.

Office of Civil Rights and Sexual Misconduct
File a discrimination complaint (including sexual misconduct) and get support.
Get involved with events for Sexual Assault Awareness Month or Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Accessibility And Disability Service (ADS)
ADS provides reasonable accommodations to qualified individuals to ensure equal access to UMD sponsored services, programs and activities.
Each school has a designated diversity officer, who is responsible for providing diversity education and training, overseeing climate assessments, and supporting diversity-related recruitment/retention, programming, and evaluation efforts within their respective units.
