Kiara is originally from Springfield, Massachusetts, the birthplace of basketball. She received her bachelor’s degree in liberal arts studies with concentrations in criminal justice, psychology, and sociology from Westfield State University. Kiara then moved on to obtain a master’s degree in higher education in student affairs from Salem State University. Prior to joining the BISS team, she worked as a community coordinator at The George Washington University and as coordinator for justice, equity, diversity, inclusion (JEDI) programs at University of Southern California, supporting the overall holistic development of college students through programs focused on diversity, personal wellness, and community. Kiara enjoys being a fierce advocate for social justice and of course you all!
In her spare time, Kiara enjoys spending time with family, specifically her nephews and godson. As a foodie, she enjoys exploring new restaurants with friends. “Nature and music are my forms of therapy,” she says, “so if I'm not on a beach, you can find me looking up new artists to add to my various playlists. I am always open to suggestions on music so feel free to send me any new artists/songs, you might catch them on my office playlist! Oh and I forgot the most important piece of me….I have a 12 lb. Mini Aussiedoodle, Teigen, and a 10lb. Morkiepoo, Bourbon, who are both excited to be back 'home' in the DMV!”
