We will be joined by a panel of UMD alums who are doing diversity, equity and inclusion work in higher education:

  • * Dr. Mark Brimhall-Vargas (Chief Diversity Officer and Vice President for Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion at Brandeis University)
  • * Dr. Robert Kelly (Vice President & Special Assistant to the President at Loyola University Maryland)
  • * Dr. Rebecca Toporek (Chair of the Department of Counseling at San Francisco State University)
  • * Moderator: Dr. Carlton E. Green, Director of Diversity Training & Education at the University of Maryland

Topics will include:

  • Anti-racist Perspective in Institutional Decision-Making: Structure for the Board, Experiences for the Students (Dr. Kelly)
  • Taking an Anti-Racist Approach to Faculty Recruitment (Dr. Brimhall-Vargas)
  • Anti-racism: It’s personal, and it’s institutional (Dr. Toporek)
